VACANCY is a Los Angeles gallery run by artist duo Adler & Edmark. For our fall-spring programming we have organized a series of 5 shows, each featuring the work of artist couples, to run from September 4, 2015 – April 22, 2016. For the fourth show in this series, we have arranged to be out of town on our own residency for its full five-week run. We are looking to have a couple come to Los Angeles to curate a show in the space, run our store-front gallery, and live in the attached studio apartment. The dates of the residency are January 29 – March 4. Please take a look at our website to get a feel for the type of work we are interested in. We are specifically seeking proposals from artist or curator couples who have not had the chance to work together in the past. Applicants must not live in Los Angeles.
As installation-based artists, our curatorial practice encourages collaborative and installation-based work. Collaboration is a very loose term for us, and can involve anything from the collective exchange of ideas in the formulation of a show, to actual production of work with another person. Only proposals representing innovative approaches to exhibition-making will be considered.
Please contact us for more information and to exchange ideas about the possibilities for this show.
